If you're not familiar with the concept, the idea behind lean publishing is a novel concept that directly borrows from lean processes. Whereas traditional book publishing takes the more familiar waterfall approach, lean publishing puts a book in front of its intended audience even before the writing is finished.

There is one potentially massive benefit to doing this, especially with non-fiction books. As soon as you start releasing a body of work in a lean fashion, you kick off the feedback loop and set in motion a virtuous cycle. If the lean process is geared towards eliminating waste and delivering value based on feedback, what this means for the book is that, whilst it remains a work in progress the content can be tailored to provide the maximum value for the reader.
